At one point, I was faced with the choice of fixing my car or paying my rent. Needed the car to get to work, 2 small kids to daycare. Single mom with combative ex-husband paying little child support.
A wonderful woman from my church gave me a check and told me to pay the rent. I don’t really know how she found out I needed the help. I cried and thanked her, promising to pay her back as soon as I could. She didn’t want to be paid back, but asked that I help someone else out later, when I could.
A few years later, I was in a position to help. And I asked for the same payback – pass it on when you can to someone else who needs it.
I know in my heart that there are good, loving, generous folks in the world. But it is really something special to meet them in your own life, face to face. Restores my basic faith in humanity.
